Public Changelog

Announce shipped features and close the loop

Overview

The public changelog lets you announce shipped features to customers who requested them. When you mark an idea as shipped and link it to a changelog entry, customers are notified automatically - closing the feedback loop and building trust.

Requirements

  • IdeaLift Pro plan or higher
  • Changelog feature enabled in workspace settings

How It Works

1Create a Changelog Entry

  1. Go to Dashboard → Changelog
  2. Click New Entry
  3. Add a title and description of the shipped feature
  4. Select a category (Feature, Improvement, Fix, etc.)
  5. Link related ideas that this entry addresses

2Link Ideas to Entry

  1. In the changelog entry editor, click Link Ideas
  2. Search for ideas that this feature addresses
  3. Select one or more ideas to link
  4. Linked ideas will be marked as "Shipped" automatically

3Publish & Notify

  1. Preview your changelog entry
  2. Click Publish to make it public
  3. Customers who submitted linked ideas receive email notifications
  4. Entry appears on your public changelog page

Public Changelog Page

Your workspace gets a public changelog URL that you can share with customers:

https://idealift.app/changelog/your-workspace

Customize the appearance in Settings → Changelog to match your brand.

Best Practices

  • Write customer-friendly descriptions, not technical jargon
  • Link all related ideas so everyone gets notified
  • Use consistent categories for easy filtering
  • Include screenshots or GIFs for visual features
  • Publish regularly to keep customers engaged
