Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the IdeaLift platform and services operated by Startvest LLC. This AUP is incorporated into our Terms of Service. By using IdeaLift, you agree to comply with this policy.
1. Prohibited Uses
You may not use IdeaLift to:
Illegal Activity
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation
- Facilitate or promote illegal activity
- Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
Harmful Content
- Store, transmit, or distribute content that is threatening, harassing, defamatory, or obscene
- Upload or distribute malware, viruses, or other malicious code
- Store or transmit content that exploits or harms minors
- Distribute unsolicited bulk messages (spam)
Security Violations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to IdeaLift systems, other user accounts, or connected third-party services
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of IdeaLift systems without prior written authorization
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service
- Use the Service to launch denial-of-service attacks or other disruptive activities against any system
Service Abuse
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service beyond what is permitted by our API
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service without written authorization
- Create accounts for the purpose of circumventing plan limits, rate limits, or usage restrictions
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
2. Content Standards
You are responsible for all content submitted to IdeaLift through your account, including ideas, comments, and feedback captured from connected platforms. Content must not:
- Contain personally identifiable information (PII) of individuals who have not consented to its collection
- Include protected health information (PHI) unless you have a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with us
- Contain payment card data (PCI DSS scope data such as credit card numbers)
- Include classified or export-controlled information
3. API Usage
If you use the IdeaLift API, you agree to:
- Respect rate limits as documented in our API documentation
- Authenticate all requests using valid API keys
- Not share API keys or allow unauthorized access to your API credentials
- Not use the API to build a competitive product or service
- Implement appropriate error handling and back-off strategies
4. Integration Usage
When connecting third-party services (Discord, Slack, Microsoft Teams, GitHub, Linear, Jira, etc.) to IdeaLift:
- You must have proper authorization to connect the third-party account or workspace
- You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of each connected platform
- You must not use IdeaLift to violate the acceptable use policies of connected platforms
- You should only grant IdeaLift the minimum permissions necessary for your intended use
5. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your account credentials, including passwords and API keys
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Promptly notifying us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
- Ensuring that all users in your workspace comply with this AUP
6. Enforcement
Violations of this AUP may result in:
- Warning: For first-time or minor violations, we may issue a written warning and request corrective action
- Suspension: For repeated or serious violations, we may temporarily suspend your access to the Service
- Termination: For severe or persistent violations, we may permanently terminate your account
We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking enforcement action, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the safety or security of our platform, our users, or third parties.

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the Service. Your continued use of IdeaLift after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
